How effectively did I communicate how childhood has been experienced in history through my research?
Design – how the project engaged its audience
Through my project I communicated how childhood was experienced during the holocaust. My museum display held an informative amount of information which was situated with photos and the artefacts. I do think, however, that people could of looked at the information on the poster and thought there was too much to read and moved to the next project. This factor could have hindered the effectiveness of engaging the audience. I believe that having the mannequin brought something else to the project and it made the audience look and then wonder what the striped pyjamas were for. All up I believe that my project did entice the audience to look at my work, but it could have been more creatively set out so that there weren’t as big blocks of written words together.
Historical communication – how effective the project was in communicating history
My project held a lot of relevant historical information. It gave a description of what it was like for Jewish children who were in hiding, and what it was like for Jewish children in concentration camps. Thus the research gave a clear overview of all spectrums of the holocaust and what is was like for Jewish children. I believe the information was informative and held truthful content as it was researched from various different sources. The research was clearly set out on the museum display, and it went along with a series of different pictures. I think I could of created more artefacts that would of grabbed the audience’s attention as well as communicate history through a more visual and creative way. The overall study for the project was very interesting and a good way to learn about a certain topic in depth. Through this project I was able to research about the historical Anne Frank and have enough time to read her diary. I did however, spend a lot of time reading this and could have spent my time in class more productively so that I could have improved my museum display. This project was also a clear and insightful way to easily and enjoyably learn about other areas of childhood and history. I think that my project gave a useful and educational view of what it was like during the holocaust and that it communicated this part of history through a visual museum display.
